It has been a while since I updated, I often think there is not a lot to tell you all but then as I think, I end up writing too much!
A day or two after the last blog Madam Be was heading to Uttoxeter with Gavin Sheehan on board, we were hopeful of a good run, something we really did not get, after being out paced much of the way and jumping only average she finished towards the rear, all beit coming back safe and with a run under her belt. She has now had eight runs for us, and being only a four year old filly that has now been in training for well over a year she is having a well earned break and having a few checks done, we feel something must be amiss as her last few runs are really not true to her form. Although when we have her back her handicap mark looks very attractive!
More positive was the super comeback run from Norfolk Sky, she had a few entries to find the best option, of which we could have picked a few. We headed for Newbury in an exceptionally competitive 0-95 fillies handicap. With Godolphin and Khalid Abdulla represented it was a hot looking affair, she bounced out under Eddie Greatrex and made most, only to just be denied by slightly quicker horses on ground that was quick enough. She came back looking great, a little stiff the next day but in good order now and should take some beating next time, most likely at Kempton in the coming weeks. Its great to have her back.
Another fantastic run was from Sky Watch on his debut for us, we headed to Worcester with the services of the brilliant Dickie Johnson. We walked the track a couple of times and we were not overly happy with the ground, it was good with a couple of quicker patches, something thats not ideal for him. We had to let him take his chance as the weather looks to be drying up again. Bowling away in front he was still in front over the last, only just to be done by quicker horses. He came back a solid 3rd, this morning he was bucking and kicking, he thoroughly enjoyed his outing which was the main thing, he looks a million and now we will wait for slightly softer ground where we are sure he will do some damage through the winter. He is a lovely horse to have.
Whilst we were at Worcester we picked up a new addition, Jopaan, an 8yr old pointer that has been placed here and in Ireland, he is a smashing chap that the girls love already! He has had 6 weeks of grass and is now getting the full spa treatment here to get him up to looking how ours look, he will run for the Brian Barr Racing Club, along with Follow the Tracks, Madam Be & Under Review. This is a great club that is great value, having 4 horses in training, one on the flat and three jumpers. Check out our Racing Club owners page for more details!
Castlemorris King, Follow The Tracks, Big Mac & Shanandoa are all now doing steady canters and look very well. Under Review is going nicely and Tuffstuff & Jopaan are lunging and trotting, still very fat!
We have just added a new page to the website so check it out.
Many thanks for reading, until next time!
