So, we are heading towards September which only means the start of the proper NH season is on its way. We cannot wait!
After, by our standards, what has been a very quiet summer we are gearing up for the winter and are thoroughly looking forward to it. We have plenty of ammunition, new and old faces which is great.
Sky Watch has been our only runner since the last time, he headed to Worcester for a conditional jockeys maiden hurdle, with one of the best conditionals in the country on board, Sean Bowen he held a decent chance, although up against a couple of potentially smart types of Twiston-Davies' and Pipes. He ran a solid race, jumped brilliantly and ran with great enthusiasm to stay on smartly and finish 3rd, beaten only a few lengths. He has now been placed in his first two starts for us which is super, his confidence has built and he is now a very happy horse again. He is now going to go back chasing and hopefully pick something up soon enough. He is the most lovely horse to have about.
Of the others, Under Review is close to a run now, he looks a million, and is pretty lively, he will start off somewhere quiet to gain some confidence and realise nothing hurts anymore, as I have said before he took some amount of fixing when we got him which was a shame as hes a nice little horse. We are sure he retains some of his old ability and will pay his way on the AW through the winter months.
Follow The Tracks wouldnt be far off a run now, although we will wait for his soft ground. Its amazing how winning a couple of times will change them, once quite a quiet, laid back character that anyone could ride, he now jumps about and squeals with great zest! Its lovely to see the change in him, hopefully there will be more improvment in him, especially when he goes chasing. He will do plenty of schooling although he won his point so does jump fences well.
The star that is Castlemorris King looks fantastic and is coming along very well, he is a pleasure to train and although still quite fresh, which he always is, he is starting to do more and wont be far off working. He will start off on the flat at some point in October, it will be good to have him back on the track, he has won every season we have had him!
Tuffstuff is looking very well, he is cantering nicely, and is very straightforward to do, we will hope to win over hurdles before maybe going chasing, just see how much he progresses I guess. He is a horse with massive potential so it will be nice if he can show that. He is currently leading Jopaan, who is also coming along nicely, he doesnt look as well as the others but we havnt had him that long so are still working on that. They should both be ready for Wincantons first meet back.
Madam Be is currently enjoying plenty of grass, as well as Norfolk Sky, they are kept company by the pony! Martys Magic is responding well to his treatment which is very pleasing, although he is pretty bored and has buckets of grass picked for him every day!
Shanandoa is as racy and lively as ever, Georgie is on holiday for 10 days, as she normally rides her I have had the pleasure of riding her myself. I doubt Georgie will get her back now, she really is a smart filly. We are taking it nice a slow with her as she is not due to run until November, but is cantering every day.
I will get some pictures of the barns that are nearly finished soon!
We are off to Doncaster sales next week and are available to meet any new clients or to have a chat with! Just give us a call.
Many thanks for reading and I will update after the sales!
