Everything is good! All at Tall Trees is in good order and everyone is in a good place. It certainly helps when you have a winner, Mighty Missile has been hitting the cross bar in his recent runs, getting no luck at all at Taunton when third and then bumping into a very well handicapped horse at Stratford when he was second, so he deserved to get his head in front. It was the first running of the new Military riders race at our local track Wincanton and after his great perfomance in Sandowns Military race under Billy Aprahamian we thought we would give it another go, Billy is a good lad and has been in riding out so it was even better to be able to provide Billy with his first win under rules. It was not just a first for Billy as regular supporter of ours and local businessman Neil Budden was also having his first ever winner, having had a couple of near misses when he had a horse with a few friends he went it alone and it paid off so it was a great day had by all. Mighty Missiles form figures werent very good when he joined us but now he is the model of consistancy with his form reading 3321 now. Its always great to have a winner at our local track, where it is now our winning most course, delighted!
Plenty have been running well with Civitesses having run well the last twice, hopeful of another good run tomorrow. She is a little tricky but has plenty of ability!
Byron Blue ran well for a way at Fakenham but I think he now needs his hood off as it seems to be working a bit too well! He will be winning this summer.
Veauce De Sivola went to Warwick after his success at Lingfield and running on heavy ground over a marathon 3m6f he was very brave and very game to finish second. He has done really well this season as his wind isnt great but now he is so fit it really helps to get him through, he is a very happy horse now which is nice to see. It would be nice to run him again but we are desparate for some rain, as with Black Anthem, he is bouncing and also needs a run but everywhere is just so quick at the minute.
Delighted to report an old favourite has returned, Head Space, having placed 11 times from 14 runs with us he has some unfinished business and will hopefully winning soon. He is a lovely character and it will be good to get him back on the track.
Also fantastic to welcome some new owners to the yard with Chris Clark the new owner of Cranworth Phoenix (you know her as Lilly!), Mike Sheridan the new owner of Mowhoob, a horse that I am sure will give him lots of fun & Amin Abusalih who has bought us a cracking race mare, Unsuspected Girl who is already a dual winner. We are delighted to welcome you all to our team and hopefully we can have plenty of winners through the summer!
We have many new faces round here now, plenty of two year olds as well which is good as this is our first season training them.
Very pleased to report the new venture of the stud side of the business is going well, Norfolk Sky having been scanned in foal to Cityscape, Madam Be confirmed in foal to Geordieland, Fruit Pastille hopefully in foal to Harbour Watch & a new addition or a couple of new additions, a smashing Showcasing mare in foal to Hellvelyn with a cracking Swiss Spirit filly foal at foot!
As I am sure most of you will have seen or heard, our in house conditional jockey Mitch Bastyan is finishing on the 12th May. After a very successful start here, providing him with his first winner after helping him get his licence and him having nearly all the rides from the yard he feels he thought he may want to be in a bigger yard so we decided it was best he moved on. We wish him all the best for the future and with his new job, hopefully he can ride another winner or two before he goes.
Plenty going on in the next few weeks so I will keep you updated.
