Not much to tell you all at the minute, with most of the horses enjoying some summer grass before there season starts again. Tuffstuff, Follow The Tracks, Castlemorris King, Shanandoa are all great friends and enjoying their well deserved breaks! Between them we had three winners, and eight placed efforts, including at Cheltenham! Not a bad bunch....
Ballyheigue is off home for a break after a slightly below par effort at Brighton yesterday, maybe the trip to Guernsey and the awful time he had over there has taken more of a toll on him than he let on. He is perfectly sound and happy which is the main thing, after a couple of good efforts this summer.
Green Du Ciel could maybe head to Worcester or Newton Abbot next week, although if we have no rain he could also have a short break and come back for the softer ground, which helps him a little bit more.
Norfolk Sky looks amazing and is nearing her return to the track, one of her old owners emailed me a while ago asking what happened to her after her retirement, I was sure to tell her she just had an over extended holiday!! She is bigger and stronger than ever, although she is still no way near being big! Hopefully she will head to Newbury in July, Daisy cannot wait to have her back on the track, she is her pride and joy.
Martys Magic is also another nearing the track, he has started working now and looks as impressive as we thought he would be, he goes for a racecourse gallop soon and will head for a novice hurdle soon, as long as he has his suitable ground. He looks a very exciting prospect.
Madam Be looks great and will either head to Worcester next week or Uttoxeter on the 15th, or both. Ideally we want to send her chasing as that will be her game, over long distances like her mother, who was placed in the cross country race at the festival! She now runs for the Brian Barr Racing Club which is a great addition to their horses!
Under Review has had plenty of issues this summer and as soon as we threaten him with a run he chucks a stone in the works! We hope to get there at some point, he is cantering away nicely at the moment!
Sky Watch looks fantastic and has changed dramatically in the short time we have had him, having had his back done by John Hankinson who said he looked like he 'had been hit by a car' and done a few other things to him he is going great, we very much look forward to him for the winter. We have limited shares available in him that are going quickly, so please get in touch if you are interested.
The 'Milan' or 'Mac' as he is known is a bit of a legend, taking everything in his stride he is coming along well, everything is being taken very slowly with him as he still has plenty of growing and filling out to do, although you wouldn't have thought it, he is already enormous!
Things are still coming along in the yard with work going on constantly to ever improve our facilities which is great. The grass has been cut and baled so the fields are in good shape.
The horses we have for the winter season are very exciting and we have changed things this year, normally we have many runners through the summer and few through the winter, but we figured what is the point in running good horses on fast ground for poor prize money when you could head to the big races through the winter for double the prize money on safe ground....win win as far as we are concerned. With our new barn of 20 new spacious boxes we have some space to welcome new horses and owners into the yard, as well as having a couple of quality horses for sale we regularly attend all sales. If you have any questions or would like to come up and see us and the horses please get in touch as you are welcome any time.
Many thanks for reading and take care.
