I dont think it has stopped raining for more than a day since my last blog, we have had an incredible amount in the last month or so with many local roads staying flooded, fortunately for us rain doesnt stop play and with the great facilities we have here we can carry on regardless, albeit a little soggy!
We are quite quiet on the NH front at the moment but we have four or five novices and juveniles that have started schooling nicely and all will be making their hurdling debuts in the coming weeks. We still have a few ticking over on the all weather and will have a constant flow of runners for the flat all through the winter but I think really at this time of year everyone is all about jumping. We love it and all our local tracks are mainly NH so it will be good to get a few runners back at the likes of Wincanton and Taunton.
We are due to hold our annual Christmas Owners Open Morning on Saturday 14th December where the horses will be exercised and paraded from 7am-12pm, of course there will be plenty of Christmasy drinks and snacks available all through the morning. We like to hold several events through the year so owners can all come and meet each other, watch their horses and have a thoroughly enjoyable morning, at the end of the day this is an entertainment industry and we try to make it as fun as possible. We will have several prizes on offer throughout the morning with different competitions so I am sure it will all be good fun, it also gives people the oppourtunity to meet the team that do a brilliant job day in day out. Of course everyone and anyone is more than welcome to come along and join us, the more the merrier but it is always good to know a rough number so if you would like to come along and meet everyone and see the horses then please do drop me an email and let me know, we will be delighted to hear from you. We will also be pulling a name out a hat for one lucky person to join the Brian Barr Racing Club for a 3 month period (this will probably amount to something like 12 runners over that period) where you will enjoy Owners and Trainers badges for every runner and join the rest of the great bunch in the club already. We will also have someone on hand with a selection of horses for sale and the oppourtunity to join the BBRC on the day with a 10% discount. So do get in touch to join us on the day!
We currently have a broodmare for sale, Norfolk Sky who was a wonderful racemare for us and has already provided us with a cracking filly. She is not currently in foal as sadly her filly foal from this year developed sepsis and unfortunately had to be put to sleep at 2 days old - through no fault of Skys. She then went up to save the day at Tweenhills to foster a little colt who lost his dam where she did a brilliant job and didnt come back to us until October so she wasnt put in foal this season. She is ready for an early cover and being a 9 x winner herself surely has the credentials to carry on being a brilliant dam for years to come. She is 100% sound and has no issues or vices. Only for sale as cutting back the broodmare band and concentrating on this years covered mares. She is very sensibly priced so do get in touch. A good home is a priority.
