Ok so we are now well back in to the swing of things where racing is concerned which is great. Obviously there is plenty of talk about the shocking prize money, lack of opportunities accross the board, staff, owners & trainers leaving the game and so on but to be quite honest I am just glad we are back racing, of course it could be better but it could also not be on at all. All of these things affect us all, but what can you do? make the most of what you have got and keep trying. I am sure it will work itself out, hopefully, in the near future.
Our first day back with runners we had three, stable favourite Toolatetodelegate at 33-1 storms home and the line just comes a stride too soon to be beaten a neck, but none the less, a cracking effort from the best part of 9 months off. Second runner of the day, Gates Pass, a frustrating horse that has had a lot of issues with his wind, this time the other way round, the line not coming quite soon enough and also being just touched off on the line by a neck! Gutted for the pair of them but a great start back for the yard & team. Johni Boxit was on a retrieval mission and still ran with credit to finish in the middle needing futher.
This was great, as we have said before through the autumn/winter the horses were in poor form and whether we had a bug or some sort of small virus I am not sure. We had all the normal tests run to show nothing but clearly something was amiss. So with everyones very hard work and dedication through the spring and lockdown we could not wait to get going again, and it was great to have two both second with our first two runners.
We still need a winner, and its been a while, but they are in such good order, it cant be far away. Other results since racings resumption include Toolatetodelegate finishing 3rd and 2nd again, Gates Pass also finished 3rd again (on the line!), Perle Rose finishing very well @ 80-1 to be placed after 10 months off over hurdles and Johni Boxit running yesterday to be beaten heart breakingly by a whisker in a photo finish. The horses are happy, the team are happy and we will keep kicking.
We have the winter team back in now, they got their shoes on this week and have started walking, these include the very exciting new recruit Dan McGrue who will most likely go novice chasing. Tristan De Gane who was placed in both his runs in point to points before going out to grow and strengthen which has done him the world of good, as well as a couple of unraced young horses that will start in bumpers.
We have horses for sale and lease that are fit and ready to go and provide some fun so get in touch to find out more.
I hope once again all our followers are in good health and keeping well.
