I think winter is definitely on its way, the past few mornings have been pretty cold with temperatures around freezing, fog that thick you can't see the horses on the gallop and several periods of rain that have completely soaked everyone!!

But one thing that makes all of that no problem and completely irrelevant is training winners and seeing your horses in good order. Toolatetodelegate headed to Kempton Park on the Wednesday to run back in a maiden after being slightly disappointing in handicaps although having several genuine excuses she had to get back on track after previously showing promise in maidens last spring. So sent off at prices of 28-1 or 33-1 in some places we were confident of a good run in what looked a very moderate race, she had a first time tongue tie to also aid her. She ran a super race to finish second. With the winner probably gettng first run on her. Everyone was delighted and she landed a nice touch for everyone, now the decision as to whether she should take up her engagement at Wolverhampton just three days later, which for a three year old filly is pretty soon, she had all the treatment, paddock time, solarium sessions along with everything else we do here and her lad that looks after her Lee was sure she would run another solid race, so much so on his weekend off he headed to Wolverhampton to lead her up, and to be fair it was never in doubt, dropping back to the minimum distance with first time sheepskins she bounded clear to win by three lengths with her ears pricked pulling up. Very impressive. There were plenty of celebrations from her owners Sheridan Racing, who still have shares available in her. It was a great performance and she will continue to improve through the winter. Another success from breeder Richard Tucker whom we have had many from now.

Switching over to the jumpers, Rocket Ronnie headed to Exeer with Bohemian Rhapsody. Rocket Ronnie although late to go jumping he ran well enough first time to finish fourth and we knew he would improve again so he should never have been a 100-1 shot, not that we or his owners were complaining, he ran a mighty race to finish a head second between some very, very nice horses. Being a six time winner on the flat he has plenty of ability but had just lost his way slightly on the level, although not running badly. Bohemian Rhapsody was running in the Amatuer race, to give young Charlie Todd who is only 16 just his first ride over hurdles, we gave him his first ride under rules the previous day on Chestnut Storm who ran with credit for her first run back. He gave Bohemian Rhapsody a good ride and finished sixth in a big field, runing on late. He's a good young rider and we are pleased to be giving him opportunities.

Rocket Ronnie then headed to Taunton where he finished a respectable fourth although not runnng quite to form he came back a bit sore so we will get him checked out and sorted before he goes again.

We have lots of new recruits here now, taking our total to 44, more than ever before. With lots of two year olds still to run, several yearlings for next year plus many more. We have a good selection for sale to suit all budgets and preferences. We will also be attending Doncaster yearling & HIT sale this week if you would like to get in touch.

The new 16 box barn is so nearly complete which will be good.

Now with some very sad news, you will all have seen or at least heard of Reg, everyone's friend and one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He was nine years old and had been showing signs of old age over the past year or so but really took a turn for the worse over the last couple of weeks so a decision had to be made. An awfully hard decision that no one wants to make. He was quite simply the coolest dog ever, when owners, jockeys, vets, farriers, family or friends came to the yard, they would always say hello to Reg, and normally have a conversation. If he could talk, which half the time it seemed like he could simply with the expressions he gave you he would basically be like a person. He always understood what you were saying to him and he would know if you were talking about him, which made it even harder. He could smile at you and always make you smile. He really was a complete dude and will forever be missed here. R.I.P Reg x
